Comments: I just came across your website while doing a search for the Via Family. In truth I am researching the Brown Family of Whitehall, Virginia, but there is a lot of overlap with the Via, Wiant, and Early families. I noticed on your site that you were talking about a Via Family graveyard. I have been researching slave cemeteries in Whitehall Virginia and came across several (probably more than the 7 you mentioned) unmarked fieldstones on property that is currently owned by the Martins (a recent purchase). They live at 5772 Via Lane (at the end of it) and the graveyard is on their property. I did not notice any inscriptions, although I plan to return soon to map the cemetery so it will be preserved. By any chance might this cemetery be the Via family cemetery? Any information would be very welcome and/or the location of the Via cemetery you mentioned so that I can cross it off my list as a possible slave cemetery (slave cemeteries very often have uninscribed field stones for markers). I very much appreciate your time and the service you are providing by posting all of your research on the web.

Comments: I am mightily impressed with the tribute to your Dad as well as your ability to set up all these categories. I like the music. Reminded me I should go down and get some Celtic sheet music for my gr-daughter who is quite a singer and loves the Celtic songs. Thanks for sharing.

Comments: I have been studying your website on the Peyton family and trying to discover more about the Peyton family as my husband is a descendant of a John Randolph Peyton (born 1823). We have corresponded before and I think that we haven't yet found the connection. But I ran across an interesting article on the web that I wanted to send to you about Peyton's Creek in Tennessee. Don't know if you knew about this or not. I can't place these two Peyton fellows in your genealogy either.

I have been corresponding with other members of Mike's extended Peyton family and we all think that John Randolph Peyton' parents, Calvin Peyton (who was a judge) and Emilee Griffin were born in Virginia, came to Tennessee, then Alabama, maybe Mississippi, then Arkansas (1850) then on to Texas. The earliest confirmation we have is the 1850 census in Hot Springs, Arkansas and I learned that John R. Peyton had a sister named Martha Rebecca Peyton. I also learned that J.R. probably had something to hide about his past, as he wasn't very straight with his children and grandchildren. He spoke of leaving Tennessee "between the suns", or in secrecy. He told them he was born in Tuscaloosa, AL and no trace of those records are found. He did speak of visiting Chattanooga, TN relatives as a boy. Don't know if that would help us to figure out where he really came from. I guess it could be Tennessee, Mississippi or Alabama. If anyone can give us any further information on the migration of Peytons to Tennessee that may help us to figure this out. Thanks. Jessie Cheek

Comments:Fridays and Sat. are my day with my 4 yr old granddaughter Taylor. Oh, by the way thanks, everytime she hears the music of Neddys Nook she climbs in my lap and tells me to PLEASE!!!! go to the ladybug page. She too love ladybugs. It is the only bug she does squeal and run from. She lets them crawl on her hand and insists that we put them back outside to "find their Mommy and Daddy". I showed her the other day and as she just turned 4 on the 12 and some of it is more than she is willing to sit through, she still loves it. My printer is rapidly running out of ink as she prints pictures to color. She has decided Julia is her new friend and she likes her. So tell your little grand daughter Taylor likes her and her ladybug site.

I noticed your excellent site the other day while browsing the web. On your 'Patriots' page you mention a General Seath at Cumberland Courthouse. Do you know where I might find out more about him ? Keep up the good work.

Comments:Hi Neddy,
Thank you for visiting my blog. I have loved wandering through your pages, this evening. I loved seeing pictures of you and Cliff and your talking about how lovely leaves are in Pohick Hills.

I think calling your blog Palaver and Blather is so original and so cute.

On Tuesday you talked about the "hickory" that is back of your house being totally golden. Would you believe that about 4 years ago I had a craft(yes, I just love making craft things) and it called for 4 hickory nuts. Being from Alaska originally, I had never seen a hickory nut. We did take a trip to Branson, Missouri that year and lived in a little place south of there in Arkasas. I had heard that they had hickory trees and asked at all the craft places I came accross to see a hickory nut. No one knew what they looked like. I have not yet seen one. I don't suppose by any chance your tree has hickory nuts? Can you describe them for me, if they do? Are they triangular?

Hope you can help, and thank you so much for visiting my blog..I shall add yours to my list of reads.
Huggers, Sandee
